A Chinese woman will be spending 4 years in prison after the local courts have found her guilty of doing online porn. The sentence, which was handed down on Thursday, also ordered the 21-year-old to pay a fine of 100,000 yuan ($14,452).

The former camgirl, identified only by her surname Lin, reportedly took part in a series of “obscene” videos which were posted and distributed online, according to Chengdu Business Daily.

China’s police discovered Lin’s online activities in March after the video “Chengdu Foursome” went viral on local social media. The video clip featured two women and two men engaging in sexual acts together, hence the title.

Upon the investigation of the Mianzhu city police, one of the women in the video was recognized as a webcam host popularly known as “Sydney Gun” or “Xue Liqiang (雪梨枪).”

It was then discovered that Lin, who has accumulated 40,000 online fans, was actually part of a group that has produced a collection of 31 pornographic videos.

She was arrested, along with her cohorts, immediately upon her arrival from a Dubai trip last May. According to authorities, Lin did not choose to do porn out of poverty, but out of her “perverse” desire to be popular, since both her parents are employed.

Lin explained that she was previously employed as a saleswoman right after graduating from university. After growing tired of it, she decided to quit and find other means to make money. She also admitted that she joined the “Chengdu Foursome” to attract social media followers for her cam shows, where she usually teases viewers through talking and exposing her cleavage.

For her efforts and performance through a variety of broadcasting platforms, she was able to make over 75,000 yuan ($10,830). Unfortunately for Lin, the Chinese government has been enforcing strict monitoring on the live-streaming industry in the country.

Aside from girls teasing men for money, the increasingly popular platform also features people doing random stuff like talking on camera, eating, and playing video games among others.

Porn has been banned in China since The People’s Republic of China was established in 1949. Anyone who produces and distributes any form of pornographic content can be penalized. In 2005, the creator of China’s largest porn site was sentenced to life in prison.
